Yes, a lot. This is a three-story house built into a slope, with the garage at ground level. There is no bedroom on the main floor — every bedroom is up a flight or down one, and the guest wing is up a second, separate staircase from just inside the front door.

For most groups that's the whole point — the stairs are what give everybody their own space. But if someone in your group can't do stairs comfortably, this is not the right house, and we'd rather tell you now than have you find out at check-in. Email us and we'll walk you through it before you book.

That's the whole reason to book this house. There are three separate living areas on three floors: the great room on the main floor, a rec room with its own fireplace downstairs, and a third living room up in the guest wing.

So the group that wants a movie, the group that wants to talk, and the person who wants to read in peace can all have somewhere to be at the same time — without anyone going to bed early or sitting in the car.

No — it's connected. The house is one building: the main lodge, the entry that joins them, and the garage with the guest wing above it. One roof, one front door.

What makes it feel separate is that the guest wing has its own staircase, its own kitchen, its own living room, and its own bathroom. You can spend a whole evening up there without crossing paths with anyone.

Yes. Every booking includes both wings and the entire property. There is never another group on the property.

No. The house sits back in the woods on wooded acreage, elevated enough that Lake Superior shows as a blue line above the treeline — you can see it from the upper balcony and the aerial photos on this page. There is no private beach or shore access on the property.

Flood Bay and Burlington Bay both have public shore access and are a short drive, and Gooseberry Falls is 15 minutes up Highway 61.

Very — you're set well back from Old North Shore Road with trees on every side and no close neighbors. One thing worth knowing: the North Shore rail line runs beyond the treeline to the west, so you'll hear a train go by from time to time. Most guests stop noticing after the first day.

8, across 4 bedrooms and 4 beds. The rec room downstairs is bonus space with a sectional and a fireplace — a good spot for a movie or a card game, not a bedroom.

Yes — two Level 2 chargers in the garage, so two cars can charge overnight at once. That matters up here: public charging thins out fast once you're north of Duluth.

Fall is the North Shore at its best — the color along Highway 61 through late September and early October is the reason people make the drive. Summer is for the state parks and the water. Winter is quiet, underrated, and the best rates of the year, with the fireplaces going and Gooseberry frozen solid.
